'Craft in the Square' Day

Conway Square, Newtownards Friday 6th August 2010 11.00am - 4.00pm Free Admission

Conway Square in Newtownards is transformed for one day only, into a tented village full of artists and craftspeople. Come and explore the many unique and beautiful products created by the local craftspeople and artists of the Ards Borough. See the artists at work, talk to them about their techniques and inspirations and take the opportunity to buy a truly original piece of work.

Throughout the day demonstrations will be given by the artists (please see programme below) and free entertainment will be provided.

Childrens Creative
Peninsula

Giving young people the opportunity to explore a variety of creative techniques with three local artists.

Learn the traditional craft of weaving and make your own unique piece of textile art with Geraldine Cooper.
Have a go at creating dramatic collagraph prints with Rosie Ennis using water based printing inks and different textured materials.
Discover the natural beauty of seaweed from Strangford Lough and make beautiful environmental art with Angela George.

These drop-in workshops are free and suitable for children aged 6 years upwards. All materials are supplied, no pre-booking is required.

All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
